Born and raised in Southwest Georgia, I am in my third year at the University of Georgia.

For as long as my memory serves, I have known that I have wanted to go into journalism. My love for this field was again re-affirmed during the summer of 2013. I was sitting at George Mason University listening to CNN’s Candy Crowley talk about her undream, that is the thing you want most in life, but doubt will ever happen.Chelsey-37

At that exact moment, I began to think about my undream–which would be to work for a news network in some capacity–hopefully using my backgrounds in journalism and political science.

During the summer 2016, I interned at WALB News 10 in Albany, Georgia, the NBC and ABC affiliate for all of Southwest Georgia. There, I had the opportunity to shadow reporters during their day-to-day routines, work alongside the digital content team and further learned the workflow of the daily content that flows into and out of a local newsroom.

Currently, I am majoring in Journalism, minoring in Political Science, and working towards a certificate in New Media.

I am also the newly-elected president of Sigma Alpha Omega, Mu Chapter, for the 2017 calendar year.
